How Kaal Sarp Puja Is Done
The puja is done with Vedic mantras, step by step. You only need to come with your family — Guruji arranges everything else and tells you what to do at each step.
Holy bath at Kushavarta Kund
The day starts with a holy dip in the Kushavarta Kund near the temple. Then you wear clean puja clothes.
Sankalp
Guruji takes your name, gotra and the reason for the puja. This is the promise you make before the puja.
Ganesh and Navagraha puja
Lord Ganesh is worshipped first, then the nine planets, so that the puja goes well.
Kalash sthapana
A kalash with holy water, mango leaves and coconut is placed for the puja.
Naag puja and mantra jaap
The naag pratima is worshipped and mantras for Rahu and Ketu are chanted to calm the Kaal Sarp Dosh.
Havan
Offerings of ghee, til and samidha are made into the holy fire with mantras.
Purnahuti, aarti and darshan
The puja ends with the last offering and aarti. Then you take darshan of Lord Trimbakeshwar.

Before the puja
- Reach Trimbakeshwar a day before, or early in the morning on the puja day.
- Clothes: men wear a white dhoti or kurta, women wear a saree. Please do not wear black.
- Food: no onion and garlic on the puja day.
- Bring your kundali if you have one, and an ID card for your hotel.
After the puja
- Eat simple, satvik food for some days, as Guruji tells you.
- Stay away from non-veg food and alcohol in these days.
- Visit a Shiva temple near your home and offer prayers.
- Give food or help to the needy as daan.
